What better way to start a weekend than with some yummy homemade scones for breakfast. It might seem like too much of an activity for the morning, but it only takes about 20 min to make them!
All you need is:
- 100g butter
- 700ml flour
- 4 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp ground cardamom
- 300ml milk
Add flour, baking powder, salt and cardamom in a bowl. Cut the butter into pieces and add to the bowl. Pinch the flour mix and the butter together until it’s all tiny tiny grains (you shouldn’t feel any lumps of butter).
Add the milk and stir/knead it all into a solid dough. Put the dough on the bench/table and push it out to a 2 cm thick plate. Use a glass to cut out little circles of dough and bake them on a baking sheet with parchment paper at 250°C for about 10 min.
As I learned from living with a certain little scottish girl – they should always be served with whipped cream and jam!
