Swedish meatballs

I was making dinner for myslef a few days ago and wanted to have something yummy but fast to make, so I rolled up some meatballs and boiled some potato.

  • Ground lean beef
  • 1 egg
  • ~ 50ml bread crumbs
  • Finely chopped yellow onion
  • Salt & pepper
  • Italian herbs

Mix all the ingredients in a bowl and knead it into a meat-dough. If it is too sticky, then add more bread crumbs.

Pinch off a chunk and roll it into a ball in the palm of your hand. Roll all the meatballs before you start frying them. To keep the meatballs nice and round, keep shaking the frying pan so that they’re rotating and not just frying on one side.

If you want to eat the meatballs with potatoes like I did, then boil them in some salty water. To make them to cook fast, skip peeling them and cut them in pieces before boiling.

Serve with lots of sallad and a spoonful of lingonberry jam/ cranberry jam/ red currant jelly.
